PDSL Mini Blog catch up for week 5 games played 16 October 2019 so no one misses out !!

Good evening and a warm welcome to the PDSL Blog to you all !!

Quickly moving on to the review of the snooker for week 5 – games played on 16th October.

Week 5 - 16 October  2019 - Snooker Review :

Division 1 : Elite A (30) are four points clear of Elite C (26) in the top division. Only six points separates 2nd and  6th place with Brownedge Blue (23) , Elite B  (23) , St Gregs A (21) and Elite E on 20 points.

This week was the clash of 3rd vs 2nd in the top division with Brownedge coming out on top with a close fought  4-3 home win. Excellent wins for Robb Dodd over Farakh Ajaib, Keith Farrington over Steve Whalley and ‘young gun’ Jake Robinson’s win over Craig Millward brought the points home for Brownedge on the night.
A special mention goes out for Jake who currently has 5 wins out of 5 and stands third in the player rankings – it looks like a cracking season for Jake if he keeps up his excellent form !!

An outstanding 6-1 home win for St Gregs against in-form Elite E  moved Gregs in to fifth place one point ahead of their opponents on the night, Good performances all round from the Catholic Club team – the outstanding performance of the night goes to Jason Crossley with a 115-29 win over Lewis Almond with three breaks of 33, 29 & 27.

An excellent home 7-0 whitewash by Elite B over visitors Freckleton highlights that the Elite club are finding some form. An excellent win for young Aiden Gallagher over John Hoyle included a 44 break and the outstanding performance on the night was Johnny Hannon with a 124 – 20 win over Steve Berry with a couple of tasty breaks of 50 and 43 !!  An excellent win that moves Elite B level on points with Brownedge.

Division 2 : St Gregs B (25)  and St Anthonys B (27) relentlessly lead the way in Division 2 with St Bernards (23) a couple of points behind in third place.
An excellent 6-1 home win for St Bernards kept them in contention with the top two – outstanding performance on the night was that of Shaun Fisher who beat John Greenwood 86 – 22 and included a 29 break.

Gary Hampson had a 31 break in his 87 – 18 win over Matt Nicholas to help his team with another marvellous 5 – 2 win over St Wilfrids B. The Euxton boys have jumped from 10th to 7th to 5th place after winning two consecutive games with a  5 – 2  scoreline.

Team performance of the week came from the top of the table clash between St Anthonys B and visitors St Gregs B. Honours were even after the first two frames Zak Patel winning 62 – 51 against El Prez. Gary Snape levelled things up with a 69 – 38 win over Paul Hindle. The damage was done in the next frame – Andy Brady beating Paul Foley 90 – 24 with a 29 break. Gregs hearts were broken when Ryan Hough was edged out 73 – 69 by Andy Evans. Martin Fleetwood made the aggregate safe with a 71 – 51 win over Paul Hamriding and Andy Bate made it 6 with another close 53 – 51 win over Liam Foley.

Anthonys will be delighted – Gregs will feel hard done to – but you can guarantee that these two teams along with St Bernards will be battling it out all season long !

Division 3 : Acregate A (20) have kept a two point lead in Division 3 even though they didn’t have a fixture this week.

That’s because St Anthonys were dispatched 5-2  by  Deepdale Joes. A second successive win for Joes  has got them heading up the table.

A timely 5 – 2 win for Broughton B has made things look far rosier. The other matches in division 3 were only separated by the odd point.

Division 4 : Elite F (32) continued their excellent start in  Division 4  following a 6 - 1 away win over Fox Lane. That puts them 13 points clear of Wilbraham 55th (19) and Elite D (19). Elite D are in that position due to a timely 5 – 2 away win at Whittingham A. Wilbraham 55th maintained their position with a 4 – 3 home win over Lostock Cons B.

Elsewhere Ashton A had an excellent 5 – 2 away win at Moor Park Eddies that moved them up to 7th whilst Elite Juniors winning streak came to an abrupt end when they were beaten 6 – 1 at home by visitors Whittingham B. That win moved the Whittingham side up to sixth place in the division.
